Editorial Policy
Baltic News Today operates according to clearly defined journalistic standards. This page describes the principles that guide our editorial team — from gathering information and publishing to correcting errors and handling complaints.
Editorial Independence
Content decisions are made exclusively by the editorial team, based on journalistic criteria: the significance of the topic, the credibility of sources and the public interest. Advertisers, sponsors and external parties have no influence over the selection or presentation of editorial content.
Source Verification
Every published article is based on at least two independent, verifiable sources — unless the nature of the topic requires a different approach, which is then clearly stated. Information from a single source is only published when the opportunity for verification is justified by context and explained to readers.
Anonymous Sources
We use anonymous sources only when the information is credibly confirmed, a genuine public interest exists and revealing the source’s identity would create a real risk for that person. Every such instance is approved by the editor-in-chief and explained within the article.
Separation of Editorial and Advertising Content
Editorial content is strictly separated from advertising and sponsored content. All paid or sponsored material is clearly labelled in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
Corrections & Clarifications
We correct errors promptly upon discovery or notification. Corrections are published directly within the relevant article, with a clear note of the date and scope of the change. We do not delete published articles — instead we make visible corrections, preserving the historical record.
Copyright & Attribution
Baltic News Today respects the intellectual property rights of third parties. When using external material, we always credit the source. Third-party content is quoted only within the limits of fair use as permitted by applicable law.
Conflicts of Interest
Journalists at Baltic News Today are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest related to topics they cover. The editorial team does not accept payments, gifts or other benefits from individuals or organisations it reports on.
Report an Error or Concern
If you believe we have published inaccurate information or that our editorial standards have not been upheld, please contact us. We take every report seriously and commit to responding within 3 business days.
